N550B

Specifications

n550B.jpg (10930 bytes)

Activation Technology's N-550B High Voltage Pulser produces fast, clean, high voltage pulses to 3 kV. The system is the same one used to drive the ATC N-550 Neutron Generator's ion source and is quite useful for applications involving the driving of deflection plates, extraction grids and other electrostatic loads. The N-550B will generate an output voltage swing of 3 kV and output current of 20 amperes peak and .06 amperes continuous. It produces very flat voltage pulses to DC into a capacitive load. The HV power supply is an integral component of the pulser, however, an external power supply with higher output voltage capability can be used if the application dictates higher voltages.

The N-550B will drive capacitive loads with moderate rise-times. Since the current output is limited, the lower the capacitance, the faster the rise-time. Typical rise-time is 35ns.

The unit is supplied with a 50 foot length of coaxial cable which has a capacitance of 20pf per foot.

The N-550B requires an input trigger of +5 volts into 50 ohms with a rise time of <20ns. ATC can provide, as an option, a pulse generator circuit that is completely computer controlled via the RS-485/422 interface.

The N-550B will operate in a continuous mode, in other words, the high voltage power is operated continuously by simply biasing the trigger input 'high' continuously.
